![]() ![]() “Touch” is another ballad which goes on for eight minutes with a long intro, decent build-up and pay-off but it's not one of the album's highlights. “Lose Yourself to Dance” featuring Pharrell Williams is a song I did not like very much because it's overly repetitive along with a bland and unimaginative chorus. Oh, and there is a pretty good solo in between. “Instant Crush” featuring Julian Casablancas of The Strokes, is a song that I liked instantly, mostly due to its funky and enigmatic chorus and because of its pop-rock sound (which I am more in-tune with). Again, this song - once heard a few times - is pure gold. “Within” once again winds things down, being a ballad with excellent use of the vocoder and a melody that demands sympathy. Obviously, I'm talking about “Giorgio by Moroder”! The third song happens to be the best song in the album. The second track “The Game Of Love” slows things down it's an interesting ballad reminiscent of ones from the '80s. The first track, “Give Life Back To Music” is a pretty powerful track to get things going with its funky guitar work in cohesion with a simple disco groove that makes everything work. So my love for this song led me to “Random Access Memories”. The song really is far reaching with its progression and drumming mixed with Giorgio's interview - and it delivers, and then some! At first, I didn't see what the big deal was about this song, but after a couple of listens I was hooked. It was a frigging interview of one of the pioneers of electronic music, Giovanni Giorgio, for the first few minutes! Anyways, the song takes you on a journey of his career and how he popularised the use of the synthesiser - boy, does he say that with panache! The words are fused beautifully with how the music progresses in the song not to mention the guy has the most badass English accent known to mankind. ![]() I must admit that I wasn't a huge fan of Daft Punk before I got introduced to the track, “Giorgio by Moroder”.
