She won the first prize at the International Conducting Competition in Treviso (Italy) and the second prize in orchestral conducting at the Prague Spring International Music Festival (Czech Republic). She has also been invited to conduct at the Univeristy of Illinois (USA), at the Freiburg Hochschule für Musik, at the Budapest Franz Liszt Academy, at the franco-german Opus XXI Academy and at the Neemrana Foundation (India).Ī pianist by training, Claire Levacher obtained three first prizes from the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, a master’s degree in Orchestral Conducting from the University of Michigan (USA) and she was awarded a French government grant to further study conducting with Leopold Hager at the Musikhochschule of Vienna. Before 2011, she had developed her pedagogical activity as professor of conducting at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris (CNSMDP) and as Musical Director of the Orchestre des Lauréats at the CNSMDP. After serving as assistant conductor at the Opéra National de Paris, at the Opéra Comique in Paris, at the Bayerische Staatsoper Munich and at the Theater an der Wien, Claire Levacher has been invited to conduct at the Göteborg Opera, at the Theater an der Wien-Kammeroper, at the Bregenz Festival, at the Opera du Rhin, at the Prague Opera, at the Graz Opera.įrom 2020 onwards, Claire Levacher is Professorin für Orchesterausbildung at the University of Graz, Austria.
